Professor Rey Perez, Chief Instructor for the new Iron Warriors Training Center (formerly South Florida Academy of Martial Arts), holds a 7th degree in Shuri Ryu Karate and 8th degree in Shinto Yoshin Kai Jiu-Jitsu (Menkyo Kaiden) and Senior Chief Instructor under his teacher, Dr. Steven Roensch who heads the Shinto Yoshin Kai Jiu Jitsu System in the world today. Mr. Perez also serves as a Defense Tactics Instructor for the FBI, Municipal Law Enforcement, and Military Personnel. In addition, he is the Chief Instructor for American Shooto for Mixed Martial Arts fighters in both Club Fit in Cooper City, Florida and Iron Warriors Training Center in Hollywood. Inducted into AJKA Hall of Fame, 1991 Light Heavyweight Fighting World Champion USKAI, on the American Budokai International Board of Directors, Shinto Yoshin Kai Jiu Jitsu Chief Instructor, Named Instructor of the Year at 2008 Martial Arts International Symposium, named one of the top ten fighters by Karate Illustrated, trainer of Champion Kickboxers and Martial Arts Fighters.
Shihan John Varnell has been training in the Martial Arts for more than 34 years. He is a 6th Dan in Shuri-Ryu Karate and a 4th Dan in Shintoyoshin-Kai Jiu-Jitsu. He is a direct student of late Master John Pachivas having trained with him from 1980 to 1997. Shihan Varnell is the Senior Instructor for the South Florida Academy of Martial Arts currently owned and operated by Professor Rey Perez.
Andrew Cove has been practicing martial arts for 15 years. He is a Sandan (3rd Dan) in Shuri Ryu Karatedo and a Nidan (2nd Dan) in Shintoyoshinkai Jiu-Jitsu. He has competed successfully in both karate and grappling tournaments, is a member of the American Budokai International ("ABI") and was selected for induction into the ABI's "honor society", the American Budokai Society, in 2007. Sensei Cove has been a staff instructor at Iron Warriors Training Center since 2005, and teaches traditional karatedo and jiu-jitsu, as well as mixed martial arts, to adults and children. He is married, has two children (who both practice martial arts), and operates a law firm in Hollywood.
Sigung Evan Frankel, Esq, is a staff instructor with over 35 years experience in the martial arts. He is currently a legal advisor to the American Budokai International. He has achieved the rank of 1st dan in Shintoyoshinkai jiu-jitsu, 5th dan in Jing Shen Jie Feng Kuntao, 4th dan in Shorei Ryu Hon Shin Do. He started in Shotokan in New Jersey (a Shotokan-based style called Sho Bu Kai) in 1973. He then moved over to American Goju and was a candidate for Shodan until the dojo closed. He received his Shodan in 1984, just before moving to South Florida. He has ranks in both Shorei Ryu (Shorei Goju) which became Shorei Ryu Hon Shin Do Karate Do in 1997 and Goju Karate.
James Smith has been practicing martial arts for 14 years and teaching all ages for 11 of those. An assistant instructor in high level seminars for Black Belt Continuing Education (PAMAI), FBI and local Law Enforcement James is currently seeking a degree in Health and Exercise Sciences and a Personal Training Certification. James has achieved the rank of Yondan in Shintoyoshinkai Jujutsu, Nidan in Shuriryu Karatedo, Novice in Tai Chi Chuan and leads Smith Martial Sciences, a study group for the Hurstwic Viking Combat System.
